Extensive Device Support
Roomie’s best-in-class library of home theater components contains over 95,000 commands for thousands of devices.
Updates occur regularly as new devices are released. Roomie’s library includes many commands not available on manufacturer remotes allowing precise automation and control.
Automatic Discovery and IP Control
Roomie breaks new ground by automatically discovering most modern components on your network. Using an array of recognition protocols including UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), DLNA, DDDP, SSDP, and Bonjour, Roomie recognizes supported devices automatically. Roomie even automatically adapts if your devices change their address.
For components supporting direct IP control, no additional hardware is required. Roomie simply uses your existing Wi-Fi network. Roomie provides an industry leading broad array of compatibility with a large number of modern IP controlled devices.
Infrared and Serial Support
While providing the best IP control library available, Roomie also supports essentially all other home theater components via traditional infrared. Infrared support is added via the Infrared Control Pack available in the app combined with an infrared adapter available in the Roomie Store.
Roomie provides a powerful infrared solution without line of sight requirements, coffee table gadgetry, or batteries. Supporting a wide array of certified adapters, the iTach series adapters even provide discrete channels to control multiple similar devices or even different rooms from one adapter.

Roomie also supports serial (RS-232) connections used by some high-end home theater components. Serial support is enabled by the serial adapters available in our store.
Virtual Remotes
Roomie provides a virtual remote control for any supported device, automatically optimizing each remote for iOS. Roomie provides all of the commands from your original remote and often more advanced commands including “discrete” power on and off.
Live Feedback
Roomie provides advanced two-way feedback support for many devices via direct IP control and serial connections.
Unlike traditional solutions, Roomie knows your receiver’s volume level, power status, mute, input, and listening mode allowing you to view and control these aspects of your system in ways impossible with infrared. Roomie integrates with many Blu-ray Players to allow Live Scrubbing and elapsed/total time displays, integrates streaming and USB song feedback from popular receivers, DirecTV guide and time displays, and many other examples.
Once you’ve tried live feedback, you’ll wonder how you ever used home theater components without it.
Multipanning Personalized Guide
Roomie provides integrated cable, satellite, and antenna television listings for the US, UK, Canada, and 15 other countries. Roomie personalizes your listings with favorite channels, and integrates with your devices to tune channels directly. Information on each show provides episode tracking, descriptions, Next On schedules, cast and crew information and photos, and detailed talent biographies and filmographies.
Advanced Macros and Customization
Advanced macros can be created for exacting control over your systems. Using the extensive command library, Roomie’s macros can sequence complex command timing over multiple types of connection precisely and easily to automate high-end home theaters, multiple rooms, or houses.
While older solutions required the use of third-party websites or applications to design your system, all editing of Remote Designs is built right into Roomie to get your system setup start to finish in just minutes. Customization of buttons, backgrounds, sliders, graphics and more are all provided in a simple interface.
iTunes and Airplay Integration
Roomie controls iTunes installations on your Mac OS X or Windows sytems directly via your network. All your Music, TV Shows, Movies, and other iTunes content can be controlled directly from Roomie like another home theater device.
Roomie can even control Airplay through iTunes to stream your music from iTunes to an Apple TV or other Airplay compatible device on your network.
Media Player Integration
TiVo
TiVo devices are automatically controlled via your network with no adapter required.
Roomie provides an on-screen keyboard for your TiVo so you no longer have to spend ages using old-style remote cursor buttons trying to type the name of a show.
Roomie even knows what channel and show you’re watching and whether changing the channel will interrupt a show being recorded.
Sonos
Sonos’ popular line of multiroom media player speakers are tightly integrated with Roomie.
Grouping of Sonos devices, volume, and playback control is provided, and the HD Guide Pack even integrates content selection from popular Sonos sources.
Roku
Roku devices are automatically controlled via your Wi-Fi network with no adapter required.
Roomie also provides an on-screen keyboard for your Roku so you no longer have to spend ages using old-style remote cursor buttons trying to type the name of a show.
Roomie even knows which channels you have added to your Roku and integrates them directly into your remote.
VLC
The popular VLC client can be remote controlled by Roomie for advanced HTPCs including full content control with the HD Guide Pack.
Lighting and Shade Integration
Rooms, Lights, and even Shades are synchronized with Roomie for simple integration of lighting and shade/drapery control in each room.
Lutron Radio RA 2 systems are automatically discovered, and each room’s devices are synchronized for customizable commands and macros controlling lighting, shades, and other Radio RA 2 devices. Philips Hue, Insteon ISY, and Vera controllers are also discovered and all devices synchronized automatically.
Lighting can be customized extensively with sliders, delayed commands, and more. Activities to control each room are automatically generated with live feedback for each light.
Receiver Streaming Integration
Virtually all modern receivers are supported by direct IP control for extensive feedback on many network streaming services such as Pandora, Spotify, Rhapsody, Sirius/XM, and more.
Interactive service, playlist, and song selection, Pandora station control, iPod Dock access, Airplay control, and radio tuner feedback are standard on many models. Some receivers additionally offer album art and multiple connection support. Popular receiver brands such as Denon, Integra, Marantz, Onkyo, Pioneer, and Yamaha are deeply integrated.
Synchronization and Backup
Wi-Fi Synchronization
The new Wi-Fi Synchronization provides instant configuration synchronization between all Roomie Remotes on the same network including Activity and Power changes.
Dropbox Backup and Restore
Roomie is integrated with Dropbox to allow rapid cloud-based backup and restore between multiple Roomie Remotes.
iCloud Synchronization
iCloud Synchronization synchronizes configuration changes between Roomie Remotes and even your current Activity status such as whether the TV is on. This method can be used for those without other active Roomie Remotes for Wi-Fi Synchronization.
Home Theater Pack
Upgrade to the full power of Roomie Remote with support for unlimited devices and unlimited rooms! Control your entire home theater or even household with Roomie. Roomie initially supports a maximum of 1 room with up to 2 devices such as a TV and a TiVo. The Home Theater Pack allows unlimited expansion.

iTunes Guide
iTunes systems gain a powerful Guide for the entire iTunes Library.
Browse the iTunes Library including Songs, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, iTunes U courses, and more. Play items from the Guide and see the live feedback in the Virtual Remote display complete with album/show art, progress, and scrubbing control.
Because Roomie also controls Airplay, all of your iTunes media is playable on your Apple TV as well.
VLC Guide
VLC clients gain a comprehensive Guide for the VLC Playlist and the entire filesystem of the VLC client allowing instant control over the active media.
